The Occupy Decade
Activists celebrated the 10 year anniversary of Occupy Wall Street last week. Here are long form articles that I participated in:
Financial Times: Did Occupy Wall Street mean anything at all?
Guardian: ‘We showed it was possible to create a movement from almost nothing’: Occupy Wall Street 10 years on
Fast Company: How Occupy Wall Street spawned a decade of protest, politics, and social media
None of these managed to capture the nuance of what I actually think and feel about the decade since Occupy. But that’s okay.
KlimaDAO is Born
The launch of KlimaDAO went very, very well. The project raised over $17 million dollars to buy carbon offsets — this is probably one of the biggest fundraises for an upstart activist group in history. The launch proved there is a high demand for Klima: the token’s price ended 3x higher than it began. This was completely unexpected. Congrats to everyone who participated in the launch.
The last day of Klima’s fair launch coincided with the 10 year anniversary of Occupy and it felt to me that the torch was being passed.
